What a way to kick off the season! We recently gathered for our Annual General Meeting (AGM) right in the heart of the action at the Enercare Centre during the Toronto International Boat Show. It was fantastic to see so many familiar faces enjoying the show and sharing our collective passion for getting out on the water. Both the presentation and meeting minutes from today are available at the bottom of this post.
The energy in the room was electric as we looked back at our adventures from last year and, more importantly, set our sights on an incredible 2026. Here is a look at what’s on the horizon for our association!

Our Digital Refresh
We are thrilled to announce that we have officially leveled up our online presence! We’ve launched a brand-new, mobile-friendly website designed to make communicating, RSVPing for events, and staying connected easier than ever. Plus, keep an eye out for our new print-on-demand merchandise so you can sport your association pride in style.
For the social media savvy, don’t forget to follow us on Instagram (@loca.sailing) and use the hashtag #stayLOCA to share your best summer snapshots with the group. We are also exploring new discussion boards on the website to help us find each other while cruising and stay connected in real-time.
A Jam-Packed Event Calendar
Get your planners ready because 2026 is looking busy:
February/March: We’re starting early with a social event called "Boats, Beverages, and Ballasts." It’s a great chance to grab a drink, talk shop with experts, and gear up for launch day.
June: Based on member feedback, we are reviewing the dates of our Sail-in and Drive-in to see if we can take advantage of that beautiful (and hopefully warmer!) spring weather.
August: The big one is back! The Rendezvous is happening the third weekend of August, exact will be confirmed shortly. We’re talking cornhole competitions, sundowners, and plenty of social time at the club.
November: We will wrap it all up with our classic post-haul out brunch to toast another successful season.
Big News from the Factory and Beyond
There is a lot of optimism in the air regarding Catalina Yachts! The factory is moving into a massive, state-of-the-art facility in Florida and is expected to be fully operational by March. They are focusing on modernizing designs and exploring hybrid drives, ensuring the brand stays stronger than ever.
Locally, our partners at the Port Whitby Marine Centre are also innovating. They are moving into a new facility and introducing some game-changing services, including financing for boat repairs, extended warranties for used boats, and more. It’s clear they are as invested in the future of sailing as we are.
Get Involved!
This association thrives on its members. Whether you want to join the executive board or just lend a hand for a few hours at one of our social events, we would love to have you. Just reach out to us via email at loca@lakeontariocatalinaassociation.com .
As a bonus for 2026, all members will receive access to the digital version of the Main Sheet magazine, so you can stay up to date with the wider sailing community from your tablet or phone.
Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Boat Show. Let’s make 2026 our best sailing season yet! #stayLOCA
